Estrela da Amadora has confirmed the absence of Bernardo Schappo for their home match against FC Porto, in the 31st round of the league. The 27-year-old centre-back will be unavailable due to muscle problems, a significant blow to the team.
Schappo's injury was reassessed by the Tricolours’ medical department after he came off in the 23rd minute of Sunday’s away match at Arouca. His absence means the loss of one of Estrela’s main defensive pillars this season.
Coach João Nuno will thus be forced to make changes to the defensive line. In the Arouca match, Luan Patrick came on precisely to replace Schappo, suggesting a potential solution for the upcoming clash.
The Brazilian centre-back has been a crucial player, starting in 24 of the 30 league rounds already played by Estrela in this season’s edition.
Schappo's importance is highlighted by his minutes on the field: with 2,504 minutes this season, only goalkeeper Renan Ribeiro, with 2,700 minutes, has played more for the club.
This setback comes at a critical time for Estrela da Amadora, who aim to maintain defensive solidity against a strong opponent like FC Porto. The team will need to adapt quickly to minimize the impact of their key defender's absence for the match on 21 April 2026.
